2024 Ford F-150
The 2024 Ford F-150 covered here is the gasoline and PowerBoost hybrid pickup — the battery-electric F-150 Lightning is a separate model. It is sold as XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor, Raptor and Raptor R, in Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew bodies, rear-wheel drive (4x2) or four-wheel drive (4x4), always with a 10-speed automatic. Six engines are offered: a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-liter V8, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, a 3.5-liter PowerBoost full hybrid V6, and — only on the off-road Raptor models — a 450-horsepower High-Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 (Raptor) and a 720-horsepower 5.2-liter supercharged V8 (Raptor R). Not every trim offers every engine, cab, box or drivetrain.
Configurations, engines & drivetrain
US-market configuration specifications. MPG is the EPA combined city/highway estimate. Horsepower is engine output except where marked system (the PowerBoost figure is Ford’s net combined hybrid system output). Seats shown as a range depend on the cab and the front seat. Towing and payload are not in this table — see the towing and payload section, and always check the specific truck’s labels.

Transmission & fuel economy
Every 2024 F-150 uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. EPA combined fuel-economy estimates run from 19 to 21 mpg for the 2.7-liter EcoBoost, 19 to 20 mpg for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost, 19 mpg for the 5.0-liter V8, and 23 mpg for the PowerBoost full hybrid 4x4; the off-road models are lower (Tremor 17 to 18 mpg, Raptor 16 mpg, Raptor R 12 mpg). Horsepower shown for the PowerBoost is Ford’s net combined hybrid system output. The PowerBoost is a full hybrid — it is not a plug-in and has no charge port; it also offers Ford’s Pro Power Onboard generator. Compare the EPA estimate for the exact engine and drivetrain rather than treating every F-150 as equivalent. Actual mileage varies with load, terrain and use.
Passenger & trunk practicality
The table keeps seating attached to each configuration. Check the actual vehicle and try your usual passengers and luggage before deciding whether it fits your needs.
Towing, payload & the pickup box
Ford lists a single "available maximum" for towing and for payload for each engine. That figure is what the truck can reach only when it is built and equipped a specific way — usually a particular cab, box, axle ratio and tow package. A typical F-150 with the same engine is rated well below it. The numbers that apply to a specific truck are on its door-jamb certification label and its towing label; check those before you tow or load. Horsepower, torque, payload and towing are independent and may not all be reached at once.
Towing
- 2.7L EcoBoost V6: up to 8,400 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the 2.7L EcoBoost. When properly equipped; maximum towing varies with cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories and number of passengers.
- 3.5L EcoBoost V6: up to 13,500 lb — Ford’s highest published F-150 tow rating, on a SuperCrew 6.5-foot-box 4x4. Requires the Tow/Haul Package and the optional Max Tow Axle. When properly equipped; varies with cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories and number of passengers.
- 5.0L Ti-VCT V8: up to 12,900 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the 5.0L V8. Requires the Tow/Haul Package and the optional Max Tow Axle. When properly equipped; varies with cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories and number of passengers.
- 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6: up to 11,200 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the PowerBoost full hybrid. Requires the Tow/Haul Package and the optional Max Tow Axle. When properly equipped; varies with cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories and number of passengers.
- Raptor (3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6): up to 8,200 lb — Ford’s maximum conventional tow rating for the Raptor. Fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing are not recommended for the Raptor.
- Raptor R (5.2L Supercharged V8): up to 8,700 lb — Ford’s maximum conventional tow rating for the Raptor R.
Payload
- 2.7L EcoBoost V6: up to 1,775 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the 2.7L EcoBoost. Max payload varies and is based on accessories and vehicle configuration; see the carrying-capacity label on the door jamb of a specific vehicle.
- 3.5L EcoBoost V6: up to 2,445 lb — Ford’s highest published F-150 payload figure, for the 3.5L EcoBoost. Max payload varies and is based on accessories and vehicle configuration; see the carrying-capacity label on the door jamb of a specific vehicle.
- 5.0L Ti-VCT V8: up to 2,230 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the 5.0L V8, on a SuperCrew 4x2 with the Tow/Haul Package and optional Max Tow Axle. Max payload varies and is based on accessories and vehicle configuration; see the door-jamb label.
- 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6: up to 1,755 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the PowerBoost full hybrid. Max payload varies and is based on accessories and vehicle configuration; see the door-jamb label.
- Raptor (3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6): up to 1,405 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the Raptor (with 37-inch tires; the Raptor / Raptor R technical specifications state 1,400 lb). Max payload varies; see the door-jamb label.
- Raptor R (5.2L Supercharged V8): up to 1,410 lb — Ford’s available maximum for the Raptor R (the Raptor / Raptor R technical specifications state 1,400 lb). Max payload varies; see the door-jamb label.
Pickup box
Regular Cab uses a 6.5-foot or 8-foot box; SuperCab a 6.5-foot box (a longer 8-foot box is also cataloged); SuperCrew a 5.5-foot or 6.5-foot box. Ford lists box volume as about 52.8 cubic feet for the 5.5-foot box, 62.3 for the 6.5-foot box and 77.4 for the 8-foot box. Raptor and Raptor R come only as a SuperCrew with the 5.5-foot box. A pickup box is not the same as an enclosed cargo area — measure the load you actually carry.
Recalls
11 distinct model-year recall campaigns for the 2024 Ford F-150, deduplicated by NHTSA campaign number: two steering campaigns, a windshield-bonding campaign, two 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine oil-leak campaigns, a transmission valve-body campaign, a rear-axle hub-bolt campaign limited to trucks with the heavy-duty tow package, a fuel-tank mounting campaign for certain 2023–2027 F-150 vehicles (the tank may be improperly secured and leak fuel or detach), and broader Ford campaigns covering an air-bag warning label, rearview-camera software and the integrated trailer brake controller. This is not the number of open recalls on a specific vehicle. Zero matching results would not establish safety or reliability.
Owner reports
227 distinct submitted reports match the reviewed 2024 Ford F-150 vehicle scope — 191 for the gasoline F-150 and 36 for the PowerBoost hybrid, which are separate NHTSA models and share no report numbers. This is not a count of confirmed defects, distinct incidents or affected vehicles. No recurring-problem themes are asserted. Submitted reports are not a failure rate.
Manufacturer service information / TSBs
Manufacturer communications exist for the 2024 Ford F-150 — the gasoline vehicle record reports well over two hundred — but the applicability, duplicate-record and supersession review needed for a verified model-year count was not completed. The count is unavailable, not zero; this does not mean no service information exists. No communication themes are presented. A service bulletin is not a recall and does not establish that every vehicle has the described condition.
Before buying
Identify the exact engine first — a 2.7-liter EcoBoost, 3.5-liter EcoBoost, 5.0-liter V8, PowerBoost hybrid, and the Raptor and Raptor R engines all differ in power, fuel economy and towing, and the PowerBoost is a full hybrid, not a plug-in. Confirm the cab (Regular, SuperCab or SuperCrew), the box length and whether the truck is 4x2 or 4x4. If towing matters, do not rely on an advertised maximum: check the door-jamb certification label and the towing label for the ratings that apply to that specific truck, and confirm the tow package, hitch, wiring and (for heavy towing) the Max Tow Axle are actually installed. Check the door-jamb payload figure against what you plan to carry. Run the vehicle identification number through NHTSA and Ford for open recalls and confirm any applicable recall work was completed; the 2024 F-150 has several model-year campaigns, some limited to a specific engine or to trucks with a heavy-duty tow package. Treat Raptor and Raptor R as their own vehicles — their powertrains, suspension and ratings do not carry over to a normal F-150. This is a model-year reference and does not report the condition or history of any individual vehicle.
